CSIR is one of the leading scientific and technology research organization. CSIR provides various fellowship and JRF is one of the part of it. A certain no. of JRfs are awarded each year by CSIR.

The CSIR fellowship are available in Universities/IITs/Post-Graduate Colleges/Government Research Establishments including those of CSIR, R&D establishments of recognized public or private sector, industrial firms and other recognized institutions.

Who is Eligible for CSIR JRF?

 BS-4 years program/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MBBS/ Integrated BS-MS/M.Sc. or Equivalent degree/BSc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders.

Students enrolled in integrated MS-Ph.D. program after qualifying the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by CSIR.

Candidates with bachelor’s degree will be eligible for csir fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D/integrated Ph.D. programme within the validity period of two years. 

Candidate who is enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are also eligible for fellowship.

55 % marks for General & 50 % for OBC & SC/ST

Age Limit
Upper Age Limit: 28 Years
Age Relaxation - 5 Years (For SC/ST/OBC, PH/VH and female applicants)

CSIR Junior Research Fellowship Admission Procedure

Through CSIR UGC NET Exam

CSIR National Eligibility test is conducted twice in a year (June & December) in the following subjects:
  1. Earth Science
  2. Chemical Science
  3. Life Science
  4. Mathematical Sciences
The information with respect to inviting applications is also made available on HRDG website (www.csirhrdg.res.in).

The entrance exam is conducted in three sections: Paper A, Paper B & Paper C.
Candidates who qualify the exams are called for the interview. The validity of JRF is two years and cannot be extended.

Various JRF jobs in India are available at various government research organizations

 

Through GATE Exam

B.E./ B.Tech degree holders with valid GATE score.
Candidates with B.Pharm degree and having qualified GPAT.
Candidates with B.Tech in Biotechnology with valid GATE score and subject to securing a minimum 85.00 percentile in GATE.
Selection will be done by CSIR labs, the recommendations approved by Director are to be forwarded to Head, HRDG, along with all necessary supporting documents. The number of JRF GATE fellowships awarded will not exceed 120 in a year. This scheme is only tenable in csir labs.

 

What is the Junior Research Fellowship Salary?

The stipend of jrf will be 25,000 Per month and in addition contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/-per annum.
After completion of two years, the fellowship may be upgraded to CSIR SRF and stipend increased upto 28,000/- per month.

 

CSIR JRF NET: Important Highlights

The stipend of research fellow/associate is exempt from the payment of income tax under 10(16) of IT Act.
Any kind of paid or honorary, part-or-full-time employment or private practice even in honorary capacity is not permissible during the tenure of Fellowship/Associateship.
JRF-GATE Scheme has been revised with the approval of director General, CSIR.
